Customizing Remote Enablement and Scalable Services to Deliver Cost Savings

Challenge

CNX Resources wanted to enable field and remote work force to have higher visibility into production and prioritize value through an alarm prioritization, as well as enable control room operators to make actionable insights through a mobile platform. This required upgrading to a remote, flexible, and cost-effective iOPS system that redefined business processes and enabled end users with data and control functionality.

Solution

We developed an innovative way to manage cause and effect alarming, standardizing and centralizing alarming and process variables from several control types into one operator friendly interface. We also redesigned the human machine interface to have a more top-down effect, giving controllers the ability to change alarm set points from the remote operating center and field.

Pumped saltwater level readings were placed into tanks that provided situational awareness from facilities to the remote operating center. These improvements lowered trucking costs and helped remove 65,000 water trucks off the road in 2020.

Tetra Tech built a mobile solution responsive to all form factors and consolidated the administrative overhead of having a mobile application and web-view to maintain. We then developed a single application with feature sets instead of entering real-time SCADA and field data capture into two different applications.

We disentangled the idiosyncrasies of field and pad infrastructure into one common technological ground. The information being pushed and pulled from the remote operating center and facilities enables haulers, field technicians, and controllers to accurately audit production based on data analytics, producing cost savings for the client.
