Environmental
We are committed to reducing our impact throughout our operations—from reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and office footprint, to using technology to improve our efficiency.
Emissions management
As part of our commitment to be Climate Positive and Carbon Negative, we have a strong emissions management program that has been reporting our emissions reductions since 2010.
In 2021 we reset our baseline and created ambitious, science-based targets in line with global best practices for GHG emissions reductions. These have been independently assessed and verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are consistent with the global 1.5-degree Celsius target of the Paris Agreement.
We report on Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and continue to expand the data sets included in each of these scopes, setting a goal for 60 percent of our vendors by spend to commit to Science Based Targets by 2027.
Environmental management
Our global Integrated Environmental Management System uses the principles and framework of ISO 14001: Environmental Management System to incorporate sustainability into our offices and work activities, including tracking and reporting on water consumption, renewable energy use, information technology systems efficiency, and recycled paper use. Currently 24 percent of our business holds ISO 14001 certification.
Biodiversity conservation and restoration
Tetra Tech understands the strong connection between climate change, biodiversity loss, and reduced ecosystem functionality. We use our Leading with Science® approach to promote and protect biodiversity in ecosystem and coastal protection projects worldwide. We focus on three key aspects of biodiversity:
Ecosystem protection
We strengthen biodiversity conservation and using the latest technology and analytics we improve real-time data collection to support land stewardship, forest management, and land conservation.
Ecosystem restoration
Our environmental experts work with organizations across regional and national boundaries to restore, preserve, and protect natural habitats and enhance ecosystems.
Innovative nature-based solutions
We are developing new approaches to enhance natural coastal protection, effectively replacing gray infrastructure with green solutions.
